About Me

I am a freelance literary translator whose work includes a wide range of novels, short stories, non-fiction titles and children's books. I have broad experience of working with publishers in the UK, US and German-speaking countries, and regularly prepare reader's reports and sample translations. I also lead translation workshops, and am a former co-chair of the Translators Association committee.

 Upcoming in-person events in London:

8 February 2024, book launch with Shida Bazyar at the Goethe-Institut London

7 March 2024, "Encounters" - an author-translator discussion with Ursula Knoll at Senate House, University of London

I will be tutoring at the Bristol Translates literary translation summer school again this year. It's taking place online from 1 - 5 July 2024 and comprises three days of translation workshops in small groups, and two days of panels, talks and workshops related to the industry and craft of literary translation. If you are thinking about applying and have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line!

My most recent translation is Shida Bazyar's Sisters in Arms, published by Scribe in October 2023. An explosive feminist and antiracist novel about the importance of friendship - it pulls no punches, but (something reviews don't often mention) will also make you laugh.

Nino Haratischwili's epic family saga The Eighth Life (For Brilka) is being made into a TV series by production companies Ink Factory and Amusement Park (story here). The book was co-translated by Charlotte Collins and me, and published by Scribe in 2019.
